A photograph is a timeless slice of life, an encapsulated moment that captures the essence of your family. Yet, what many don’t realize is that these fleeting instants are meticulously chosen. Behind every remarkable photo lies a deliberate decision about when the shutter clicks. It’s a decision that can’t be taken lightly because, in photography, timing is everything.
The moments we choose to press the shutter button can transform a simple scene into a masterpiece. This blog will delve into the significance of timing in photography and why it’s worth altering your schedule and routines to achieve that perfect shot.
I know your schedule is important- after all, I have three kiddos myself. Between naps and school and bed time, things can get hectic and even a small change can alter your whole day.
But when we are talking about preserving your family legacy, I consider a one-day schedule change worth it.
It’s just one day out of the year that I’m asking you to consider adjusting your daily schedule to time those perfect pictures and here’s why:
- Lighting is so important. You trusted me to tell your story, so trust the timings well. Things like cloud coverage, location, and even time change affect when a time is selected for photos.
- Less congestion. I picked the time to avoid large groups of people of other photographers. I want the least amount of distractions possible so you can get the best photos possible.
- Be prepared. If your photo start time cuts into dinner, make sure to bring snacks and remember it’s just one day that your schedule may be a bit off. Make sure everyone is well rested and don’t be afraid to change nap schedules or have your kiddos stay up a little later than usual to get that golden hour sun.
In a world where every second counts, it’s easy to overlook the importance of time in photography. But as we’ve explored throughout this blog, the timing is more than just a matter of convenience; it’s an art form in itself. As photographers, we trust in the fleeting moments that paint the canvas of life, and we invite you to trust us too. We ask you to adapt, to embrace the moments that might seem unconventional, to stay up past bedtime, to venture into the wilderness.
The golden hour, the time when the sun casts its magical, warm glow, or the serene, tranquil hours when the world is free from the hustle and bustle. These are the moments that give us the power to capture stories in their most beautiful light. So, don’t fear the start time, make the most of it. Understand that it’s just one day out of the year, but the memories will last a lifetime.
Photographers select the time they do for a reason, and the changes they ask you to make are truly worth it. They lead to photographs that are not just images but stories, emotions, and moments frozen in time. Embrace the timing, and you’ll cherish the results forever.
