The Woodlands Family Photographer

So I know that this heat is brutal…and I know that even though the kids have just started back to school, it’s going to get crazy busy come fall 2019. As a mom, I know this. And as a family photographer, I especially know this.
I always try to book our family session early, which means we are less likely to get or be sick, and that it is HOT as a mother outside.
Yeah. It sucks sometimes. But we get it over with and don’t have to fret about it (or try to justify the cost of Christmas cards so late in the year either lol!!)
So how do you combat the heat when you schedule an early fall session in Texas?
-
Be prepared- for literally anything. That means bring bug spray, drinks, snacks, sunscreen, a towel…all the stuff. It’s better to be safe than sorry! And prepare your family. Remind them to drink lots before the session and let them know it will be hot so no one is caught off guard.
-
Dress cool. This lovely family had a more formal look they desired, so they opted for light khaki pants for the men and sleeveless gowns for the women.
-
Be ready to work quick! I will work hard to get all the shots I need and you desire up front. But it’ takes time for people to naturally open up to the camera and me. So be prepared for good smiles and posed photos at the very start and ready to take breaks and rest in between so we can continue to develop our session and time together.
-
Timing is everything. Ask for a sunrise session first. If one isn’t available, pick sunset. It’s the only way, I promise!
-
And last but not least…if the heat really cannot be tolerated, ask for a studio session instead. I offer limited bookings for studio session, with an added fee of $80. You won’t even break a sweat I promise!
Now! On to an amazing family that made this heat look good!! This family has a special place in my world- MaryJane was with me through my own journey to becoming a mama…from loss, through infertility…she held me when I needed to cry and celebrated with me when each one of my children were born. She has been one of our oldest’s biggest advocates and continues to encourage me as we navigate Holland. (Do you remember when I was scared and afraid and you hugged me and asked me why I was crying over my beautiful son? THAT is how you do compassionate healthcare.) Her open heart loves without fail or judgement and her family reflects that in every way. Embracing every thing that makes us human. I love getting to watch her family grow and change.
Thank you for investing yourself so fully into me and my dream to have a family. I’m so humbled that I get to be a part of yours.
