Family Photos with Dogs

“Love is, in fact, an intensification of life, a completeness, a fullness, a wholeness of life.” – Thomas Merton
More rad couples, more adventures, and always more fur babies to join in the fun.
Having your dogs join you at a photo session can add another layer of personality and tell more of your story. If your animals are like mine, they are a huge part of your family and who you are.
When this darling couple came to me, they knew they wanted their babies included because one was older…they weren’t sure how much longer they would have her and wanted to document their connection.
So clear is their love and commitment. So beautiful is their relationship and dedication. Hold on to that excitement and passion for one another- it radiates from within and brightens your path.
Here are my tips for bringing your dog to you photo session:
-
Bring a leash or a stake (plan to have your dog temporarily and safely tied to a fence/tree while we do individual pictures)
-
Plan to come early to let your dog smell things, use the restroom and get used to the area
-
Ask your photographer if they have private locations to minimize distractions
-
Load up on treats and patiences
-
Bring a favorite toy- one that makes noise is great for getting their attention
-
Your dog doesn’t have to be perfectly trained for success, embrace the fun and plan to play and roll around with your dog
-
Relax and just go with the flow- if your dog doesn’t want to participate, that’s totally fine! We can be flexible, try again or change what we are photographing
It’s not hard to include your family pet, and after all, what is family without them? Keep scrolling for more from this lovely engagement session.
