So it’s overcast the day of your session….
I am a sucker for a nice sunny day- it feeds my soul and makes for some stunning and dramatic colors. BUT overcast IS NOT BAD! I repeat- overcast is not bad.
You booked your session, picked a day and now you are ready tp chase the sun. But this is Texas, and you just never know what you are going to get. So the clouds come out and take away the sun.
If your heart is set on a sunny day. reschedule. Especially if you have the flexibility and desire the consistency of the work I have in my portfolio (90% of which is shot during a sunny day), then you will want to aim for that. I always offer a free reschedule if this is the case, so don’t fret.
What if you are not able to reschedule? You could be on a time crunch, or have family that is in town for a limited time. No worries- the results from an overcast session are equally stunning!
Most photographers know that a cloudy or overcast day produces really soft light that can be flattering on the human face. It’s like a natural filter that creates consistency that looks amazing.
Some things to consider
-
Try adding a pop of color
-
Use complementary colors
-
Soft, even light means we can explore more spots for posing!
This sweet family made overcast look like a bright sun shine day with their incredible bonds and connections. I love that we were able to make our session happen and that they embraced the weather of the day. it really turned out perfect.
