Newborn Photography Frequently Asked Questions
The Woodlands Newborn Photographer
Ashley Newman Photography
I am often asked questions when leading up to booking for a newborn session. I love getting to chat with clients prior to booking because it helps me to know if we are going to be a good fit but it also helps prepare you for the types of sessions I do. My approach to newborn photography is much more natural and organic (so no posing your baby on a bean bag). I have a focus on your connections and relationships as a family, plus all the tiny details of the day. If you are considering a lifestyle newborn session, check out my post on in-home newborns to find out if your house is right for these types of photos.
Newborn Session FAQ
-
What is lifestyle photography? It’s the heartbeat of your family! It’s all about capturing images that reveal a story. It’s candid yet directed and posed at the same time. But mostly, it’s emotive photography that focuses on relationships and family.
- Are other family members allowed in the photos? Of course! I personally do not charge any additional fee for having siblings in photos or an occasional extended family member step in for a few images. This is your family, we want to capture all of it.
-
I’m super awkward/nervous/never in front of the camera. Help! Don’t worry! That’s part of my job! I’m here for you every step of the way. From planning and styling your sessions to posing and guidance. I got your back!
- Do you provide props and wraps? While I do not have a client closet or studio, I do provide a few newborn wraps to help tie everything together and make baby comfortable. Every baby is different, so you may not need or want your baby wrapped. I do not use props for my photos, but if you have something specific in mind, let’s chat!
-
How do I book? That’s the easy part! All I require is a retainer fee to hold your due date.
-
Where do we take the pictures? I have spent years finding and securing private locations as well as scoping out the best public spaces. Once you are booked, I will share all my locations with you and help you pick the one that best fits your vision for your session.
-
How long until I get my pictures? The big reveal- right? It’s my favorite too! You will get a sneak peek of your photos 1-2 weeks after your session and your final gallery in 3-4 weeks.
-
How early should we reserve a date? It’s best to book when you are absolutely comfortable and ready. Most families book around between 20-30 weeks pregnant, but some book as soon as they know! I am generally booked out about a month in advance and reserve a date around your due date.
