With family photo season right around the corner, I have had more families reaching out to me looking for tips and tricks to prepare for their session. When styling your family, I am here with you every step of the way from location to timing to what to wear. Today, I’m bringing in the hair expert, Miranda Eason with Mane Luxury Salon to share her FAVORITE tips and tricks to having the most #HAIRGOALS worthy hair for your next photo shoot!
Miranda’s Favorite Ways to make your blonde POP right before a photo shoot
The shampoo right before your photo shoot I love to recommend for my clients to use the Olaplex no.4C
Which is olaplex’s new Clarifying shampoo, then immediately after cleansing and clarifying your hair use Olaplex no.4P, a purple shampoo to deposit tone back into your hair. Then follow with a moisturizing deep conditioner. I recommend the Olaplex no.8 or Amika Soulfood Mask.
What this does is sometimes when you haven’t had your blonde refreshed in a while it can collect mineral build up. Whether that be from hard water build up or product build up, it WILL dull your blonde, can make it feel dry and brittle, cause unwanted damage, and cause brassiness.
In order to achieve that salon quality lively bright blonde again, using the Olaplex 4C Clarifying shampoo it strips all of those minerals from your hair. Leaving your hairs cuticle open and clean.
Following with Olaplex 4P purple shampoo for about 5 minutes to deposit the bright tone back into your hair.
Then using a moisturizing mask to bring back all the bouncy moisture back into your hair for about 10 minutes.
Miranda’s Favorite Products to use for a bouncy long lasting blowout
My GO TO holy grail product is Olaplex No.6.
To me- it is a one size fits all. I have yet to find a hair type it doesn’t work on. It helps smooth the cuticle, detangles, softens the hair, and leaves a long lasting smoothness after a blowout.
For volume:
Amika Plus Size Perfect Body Mousse is my favorite mousse! It gives you body and movement without being heavy or sticky! I like to spray a palm full and disperse all along the roots for height.
For after the style:
I LOVE the Amika Undone Texture & Matte Spray for the perfect hold, not sticky, gives movement and body to your hair.
The best ways I’ve found to use it is flipping your head upside down for max volume and spraying the underneath. Flip back up and give the top a little sprits then either run on wide tooth comb through your curls or your fingers will work as well.
You want to disperse the product around to make sure it gives you that effortless movement.
To make your style last for DAYZZZ:
My all time favorite dry shampoo is the Moroccan oil dry shampoo. They have a dark tones for brunettes and light tones for blonde. Typically to make my style last, I spray at the roots on DAY 2. The trick is to leave it in for 15 minutes untouched after spraying it. After the 15 minutes brush through or blow dry your root area. There shouldn’t be a white cast because the oils soak it in during the 15 min.
Typically my style will last me about 7-8 days with no additional product.
BONUS TIP: Miranda’s favorite tools to style with-
For long hair:
Bio ionic extra long barrel 1.25 inch
For medium/short hair:
GHD classic curl curling iron 1inch complete
