Top Summer Locations For Family Photos
Ashley Newman Photography
Before we even dive in, I just have to say what an incredible pleasure it is to work with fellow creatives. This mama is a photographer and she had a specific vision for her family session- all the fun and love they have on family vacation. But mostly, she just wanted to be in the images.
So instead of planning a whole wardrobe, and getting fancy, we got our swimsuits on and just played. That is where the real stuff happens- when you aren’t focused on the camera and instead focus on your family.
It didn’t hurt that they were ready to get dirty on a hot summer day 😉
Ok ok ok, let’s really get into why you are here: locations!
It’s hot, it’s summer and you are looking for cool ideas for family photos.
Best Locations For Summer Family Photos
-
Creeks
Really any creek or stream will do. Make sure you have easy access to the spot and to check for wildlife. If it is a popular fishing spot, consider moving to a different location to avoid stepping on anything unseen in the waters. -
Beach
Galveston gets a bad rep sometimes but it’s beautiful (as you can see!) Bring your favorite sand toys and be brave- get in that water! -
Pool
Underwater photography isn’t something I offer, but it is something that is amazingly unique! There are several talented underwater photographers locally. Invite them out to your pool, go to theirs, and get some rad memories! -
Home Session
Not a huge fan of getting dirty? Or bugs? Or heat? No problem! Bring your session inside- who says your home isn’t the perfect backdrop for a family session? Want to get really adventurous? Bring out the sprinkler and finish your pictures with popsicles and sprinkler fun. Keeping things simple around the house is never a bad plan and sometimes these are the most intimate and raw moments.
Don’t let the Texas heat stop you from making incredible family memories. Plan to get in the water, and plan to have loads of fun!
