I could stand on my soapbox all day to declare how much I love outdoor newborn photography. It’s literally my favorite.
And because we live in a place where it doesn’t get too cold (or if it does it doesn’t stay that way for too long) being outside with your baby is so easy!
Some people might exclaim, “Outside! no way, not for my newborn!” and that is totally ok!
But can I just show you exhibit A…this beautiful family!
Wondering if bringing your newborn outside is right for you?
Ask yourself these questions:
-
When is sunset or sunrise? If it’s too early or late for your family schedule this may not work well.
-
Does your family enjoy being outdoors?
-
Do you want your newborn photos in your home or in a studio instead?
-
Do you prefer lifestyle and natural poses or more posed and planned?
-
If you have other children, what is the best environment for them?
-
How old is your baby? Many families are waiting longer to schedule photos- there is a more ideal age range for newborn photos. If you have an “older” newborn, you may want to consider something that is more lifestyle and unposed.
For me, it’s the light and the ease of the session. That stunning sunlight is enough to coax me out to take photos any time, but especially if it means baby snuggles.
Is an outdoor newborn session right for you?
