We started outside and moved to their home and it was EVERYTHING! When I pulled into their neighborhood, I noticed at the entrance they had a wooded area with this epic tree, and it didn’t take much convincing for us to end up playing beneath it’s canopy (as in literally zero convincing).
Most people think of newborn photos and either picture posed/wrapped newborns, or lifestyle newborns in someones home. I like to think of photographing newborns like this- whatever works for your family and whatever feels right is what you should do.
At every newborn session, I follow the lead of your baby. If your baby does well with being wrapped and posed, we go with it! If you don’t want that, cool! Regardless of the location, my soul focus is on your connections and relationships.
Your baby doesn’t have to be wrapped to show that.
So we may do a lifestyle newborn session. I come into your home and you snuggle that baby wrapped or unwrapped!
Or, we play outside with all your children and make some amazing things happen there too.
Ask yourself, what feels right? Look at your home- do you want that comfortable feel of spending time on the couch snuggled in love? Or do you want to get out in that sunshine and share those snuggles beneath a tree?
With this beautiful family, we did both. Because the rules are meant to be broken, right?

No matter what you choose, talk to your photographer. Ask what they recommend, spend photos of your space, or share your vision. Being able to capture the love should be at the top of the list- so make sure that is the focus. The rest will fall into place just like it did for this beautiful family.
