You-Pick Fruit and Local Farms

Can you feel spring in the air? The green grass is starting to try to come back, I swore I saw some wild flowers the other day, and the smallest buds are starting to pop up on trees all over.
One my my favorite family friendly activities is to take the kids to farm to pick our own fruit and vegetables.
Living in such a big, metro area, it can be hard to find places that even do that anymore. Thankfully, the traditions are still alive and well on so many local farms.
These are a few of my favorites- they are locally own, not too far of a drive, and loads of natural fun!
Atkinson Farms – Season is from March 1 – October 31. Located locally in Spring, TX, we love to pick strawberries here. We keep our buckets and bring them back year after year. They also have a little grocery so you can grab some fresh produce while you are picking.
Moorhead’s Blueberry Farm– Season is late May/early June. Located in Conroe, TX. I love the simplicity of this farm and it’s a great spot to just enjoy nature.
Chmielewski’s Blueberry Farm – Season is late May/early June. Hockley, TX. Check the website before going out to the farm. They have special events and fun activities to participate in. Awesome summer fun!
Jollisant Farms– Plantersville, TX This farm has a little bit of everything- from games and activities, fishing and pumpkin patches. Pick your own blackberries, pumpkins, strawberries and many more vegetables.
Matt Family Orchard – Season is beginning of April-strawberries, May-blackberries, June/July-Peaches, Pears and Figs, October/Fall- Citrus Fruits. Tomball, TX
Blessington Farms – This farm offers you-pick seasonally as well as tons of activities for families and children. Located in Wallis, TX
Party Barn Farm – Hockley, TX a fun, vegetable farm that gets you out and back to nature.
Froberg’s Farm – Alvin, TX- they have one of the most updated websites and loads of fruit and vegetable to purchase locally. They also have fallen and winter festivals with fun activities planned.
These are all natural spots. make sure to check the forecast before going, and confirm their hours on their websites. We like to wear closed toe shoes or rainbows to the farms and bring our own buckets and blankets. Don’t forget bug spray and sunscreen!
