So it’s overcast the day of your session….
I am a sucker for a night sunny day- it feeds my soul and makes for some stunning and dramatic colors. In fact, during non-busy season I will generally reschedule photos to get more ideal lighting conditions.
BUT overcast IS NOT BAD! I repeat- overcast is not bad. if we are unable to reschedule or you do not have flexible dates (sometimes family is in town or you have a deadline you are trying to reach…it happens!) Overcast is not the end of the world!
There are times when I won’t reschedule or we can’t but the results are equally stunning. Most photographers know that a cloudy or overcast day produces really soft light that can be flattering and reduces shadows- like a natural filter.it also creates an even tone and lighting conditions that do not vary or change.
Some things to consider if you are having photos done on an overcast day:
-
Try adding a pop of color
-
Use complementary colors
-
Soft, even light means we can explore more spots for posing
This sweet family got up at sunrise for an awesome session in the woods. The skies were overcast but this family is anything but dull. The colors and the end result are amazing! Take a look and embrace the weather the day of your session!
